Antique Chinese Wicker Sewing Button Basket Coin Peking Glass Bead Split Bamboo?

Up for sale is a lovely old antique Chinese sewing, button or notion basket. It is adorned with 14 old glass hand made multicolored Peking Beads, 5 Chinese coins, 2 mauve silk tassels and a lovely round rose colored Peking glass ring. Possibly made of split bamboo? or reed wicker in a very rich dark brown. This basket is in wonderful condition for it's age and measures a tad over 7 1/2 inches in diameter. These baskets were exported by the thousands to the United States starting around 1880 and were popular using them as sewing baskets until around 1930. They were primarily produced in the Guangdong province near Canton. If you need a special place to keep your sewing needs or you have a multitude of excess buttons in jars and drawers then this authentic colorful basket would fill your needs and look decorative at the same time.
