Antique MAUCHLINE Wood SEWING BOX/STRING HOLDER Lot - Made in SCOTLAND Fruitwood

Description

Wonderful lot of two antique wood advertising sewing items!  No damage found to any part or piece with the exception of the wood spool insert in the box, one corner has a crack, it has been glued together and does not detract.  Light wear/scuff here and there to both pieces, does not detract.  Closed box measures approx. 5 & 5/16" long x 3 & 1/2" wide x just over 2 & 1/4" high.  Slight gap in the applied top piece to the box on front right corner, is not loose all around and does not detract.  The lid of box shows a landscape and the words underneath:  Garden of the Gods and Pike's Peak.  The violets and forget-me-not design on string holder looks to be hand painted, if it is a decal, it is very thick with no sign of overlap or wrinkles.  A bit of it is worn off, not much, very lovely!  String holder measures approx. 3 & 5/16" high x 3 & 1/8" across the middle.  The two halves fit snugly together, can separate them gently with a fingernail and not cause damage.  No cracks in the wood of the string holder or exterior box!  Great lot!
