No surprise whatsoever that this Dukoff Stubby plays great!  Using a Legeré 3.5 and a standard metal ligature, this Dukoff responds extremely well, great control over dynamics, and such a big sound all while being flexible. I love these mouthpieces. Brian Powell's expert touch definitely helped bring this Dukoff into the 21st century.
Below I am quoting Theo Wanne's comments as noted on his website about the Dukoff "Stubby" Mouthpiece.
BOB DUKOFF “DUKOFF” (1945):
"These mouthpieces are shorter than the BD model. They have a very large chamber with very deep rounded inner side-walls.   In fact, what makes these mouthpieces so great is that they have such profoundly rounded inner side-walls, much like the NY Otto Links made in the 1940’s. However, they have higher floors than their Otto Link counterparts so have more projection.  These are fantastic playing mouthpieces; however, the facings vary widely from piece to piece.  About 200 of this model were bought by a New York Distributor who put the Woodwind Co. name on them.   Most have a serial number on the shank with white bite."
The Very First thing I did when I obtained this Great Vintage "Stubby" was to contact Brian Powell, and ask if he would take a look and repair as needed, this mouthpiece.
Brian just completed his work on this mouthpiece a couple of weeks ago.  I have provided a copy of his write up  sharing the work he performed on this Dukoff Mouthpiece.
This Vintage Dukoff retains most of its original finish and presents Very Well.
the original bite plate has some wear from use years ago, but did not warrant replacing.
Using Theo Wanne's Mouthpiece Tip Opening Comparison Chart, the facing on this Dukoff "Stubby" Tenor mpc is comparable to a Link 6*
Any Questions let me know and Thanks for taking a look.
